Household budget

How much is left each month after your bills and commitments, in one clear number. No account needed.

Your numbers

Answer each Yes/No question, then fill in the amounts that appear. Use 0 only when an amount is truly zero. Want to see how it works first? Load example numbers below.

Are these amounts for your household, not your business?

Use take-home pay after taxes. Each line lets you say whether the amount is for a month or a year. Keep business costs and tax savings out.

Take-home pay for everyone in your household, after taxes and paycheck deductions. For example, 6,500 a month. Not sure? Add up last month’s paycheck deposits and owner draws.
Pick a year if you know your yearly take-home pay better.
Rent or mortgage, plus power, water, internet and phone. For example, 2,200 a month.
Groceries, eating out, and things like soap and paper towels. For example, 800.
Car payment, gas, parking, bus fare and repairs. For example, 650 a month. Car insurance goes in the insurance line below.
Do you pay for any insurance yourself, outside a paycheck?

Car, health, life or renters insurance you pay directly. Insurance taken out of a paycheck is already out of your take-home pay, so leave it out.

Do you make monthly debt payments?
Do you have other spending, like childcare, subscriptions or clothes?
Do you want to save some money each month?
