Tax · Guided planner2026 federal + Minnesota

Your whole tax picture in one place.

Plan income tax, self-employment tax, selected family credits and estimated payments. Answer Yes or No first. We ask for amounts only when they apply. Use full-year 2026 numbers.

Income

Use amounts for all of 2026, not one paycheck or one quarter. A good guess is fine.

Did you (and your spouse) live in Minnesota for all of 2026?

Choose No if you moved into or out of Minnesota in 2026, lived outside the US, or were not a US citizen or green-card holder who lived here all year.

Do any of these apply to you or your spouse?

• Someone else can claim you as a dependent. • A business lost money, or one person runs more than one business. • Rental income, or a K-1 from a partnership, S corporation or trust. • Income from another state or country. • Stock options, or you sold collectibles or real estate.

Do you get a paycheck from a job?

This is pay from an employer that sends you a W-2 form. Use your pay for all of 2026, before taxes come out.

Do you earn money from your own business or side work?

For example freelancing, gig work, a shop or a single-owner LLC, where you pay tax on the profit yourself. If the business lost money, or you run more than one, connect with an expert.

Do you earn interest or dividends?

From a bank, credit union or brokerage account. They send you a Form 1099-INT or 1099-DIV.

Did you sell stocks, funds or other investments in 2026?

Count only things you sold. Price changes on things you still own do not count.

Do you or your spouse get Social Security benefits?

We figure how much of it is taxed. We also apply the Minnesota Social Security subtraction for you.

Do you take money out of an IRA, 401(k) or pension?

Payments you get from a retirement account or pension. Your plan sends you a Form 1099-R.
