How this tracker works

2026 IRS business rate: 72.5 cents a mile for trips January 1 to June 30, and 76 cents a mile from July 1. The rate is only for cars, vans, pickups and panel trucks, and not if you run five or more vehicles at the same time. For a tractor-trailer or other heavy truck, track actual costs: fuel, repairs, insurance and depreciation. Write trips down when they happen. The yearly totals below work out the deduction estimate for you.

Calculated guidance

Based on the current figures shown here. These review prompts use rules, not a live AI model.

Start with real records

Nothing is in this tracker yet.

Add your first trip above. For example: Oct 14 · Client office, Edina · Work van · 48,210 → 48,242 · 32 business miles

Log every trip the day you drive it

The IRS accepts a log with the date, miles, destination and business reason for each trip. Driving between home and your regular workplace is a commute and never counts.

Use Log again for a repeated trip; the yearly totals work out the deduction estimate.
